Matt has spent the majority of his musical career in London and the South East of England, honing and perfecting the skills of a classical Pianist. At the age of 15 however he was introduced to the colourful and fragrant world of Singer/Songwriter and Folk music where he took inspiration from the likes of John Martyn, Damien Rice and Bob Dylan. These artists catapulted Matt into a rich and relentless course of song writing, building up a huge collection over the years and expanding his talent onto guitar along the way, ‘Music is an outlet for me. I find it the most direct and organic way to convey my emotions and reflect the nuances of daily life’.
Recently, Matt has been busy leafing through over a decade’s worth of material to form this EP that he will be showcasing across Europe. Matt is no stranger to European touring as he did with his previous band Leo’s Hide (all skinny jeans and flat caps) but felt now was the time to tackle it himself with a range of new material. Matt and his one man touring Van will be driving though France, Germany, Switzerland and many more, fuelling the cosmopolitan streets with his speedy melodic blues and igniting music venues with his hair-trigger swing.
Today Matt can be found in the Streets of the North West and in his current home town of Chester; anywhere where the ale is good and liberal sound curfews allow him to jam on unbridled into the night. Whether it’s acoustic country style picking, enchanting soulful harmonies or catchy airy melodies, Matt can work with any crowd and can get even the most English of Englishmen dancing around his piano.
Matt Moorey’s EP “A Mile Off” is available from the 21st of August and will come with a string of European gigs that are not to be missed. You can find out more about Matt and his music at his Facebook Page by clicking the link below.
